Ceric ammonium sulfate, also known as ammonium cerium sulfate or ammonium ceric sulfate, is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula (NH4)2Ce(SO4)4·2H2O. It is a red-brown crystalline solid that contains ammonium cations (NH4+), cerium cations in the +4 oxidation state (Ce4+), and sulfate anions (SO4^2-). The two water molecules present in the formula are part of the crystal lattice and contribute to the stability of the compound.

Key characteristics and features of Ceric Ammonium Sulphate:

  1. Oxidizing Agent: Ceric ammonium sulfate is a strong oxidizing agent, capable of transferring oxygen atoms or undergoing redox reactions in chemical reactions.
